Shopify development, priced in the open — including the costs that are not ours.
Our build is ₹39,999 and the store is live 48 hours after we have your content and sign-off. Shopify's own plan and your payment gateway fees are separate, paid by you, and we set them out below rather than letting you discover them in month three.
What a Shopify store actually costs, all three parts
Most Shopify quotes in India tell you the build fee and stop. Then the platform bill arrives, and then the gateway fees show up on every order. Here is the whole thing, so you can budget the real number rather than the quoted one.
Realistic first year on Basic: ₹39,999 build + about ₹18,000 to Shopify + gateway fees on what you sell. We would rather you saw that number now than found it in month three.
What we will not do
- We will not push you onto a bigger Shopify plan. We earn nothing from your subscription and we are not a partner taking a referral on it. Almost everyone starting out needs Basic.
- We will not load your store with apps. Every app is another monthly fee and another thing that can break or slow the site down. Four good ones beat fifteen.
- We will not rebuild a store that does not need rebuilding. If your Shopify store is fine and the actual problem is that nobody is visiting it, a new theme will not sell anything. We will tell you that even though the rebuild is the job we get paid for.
- We will not pretend a ₹39,999 build is custom theme development. We design on top of a solid theme. If you genuinely need custom, we quote it separately.
Is Shopify even the right choice?
Usually, for a business selling to consumers in India, yes — it handles payments, shipping, stock and security so you are not paying anyone to maintain plumbing. But two cases where it is the wrong answer, and it is worth saying before you spend anything:
If you sell to other businesses on credit terms, a checkout is expensive complexity for something your buyers will never use. You almost certainly want the ₹29,999 business website with a proper product list and an enquiry form.
If your volume is very low and margins are thin, Shopify's monthly plan can outweigh what the store earns. Sell on marketplaces first, prove the demand, then build the store when it pays for itself. We would rather say that than take ₹39,999 for a shop with no street.
These are sample designs, not client work. Your store is designed to your business and your products, not picked from these.
How much does Shopify development cost in India?
Our build is ₹39,999 plus GST — the store, your catalogue, checkout and payments set up, designed around how you actually sell rather than dropped onto a bought theme. The Indian market runs roughly ₹25,000 to ₹80,000 for a competent Shopify build and well into lakhs for custom theme work. What varies is almost never the platform; it is how many people sit between you and whoever is building it.
What is the total cost of running a Shopify store in India?
Three separate things, and most quotes only mention the first. The build is ours, ₹39,999 one-off. Shopify's own plan is theirs, paid by you directly to Shopify — Basic was ₹1,499 a month when we last checked, Grow ₹5,599, Advanced ₹22,680. Then payment gateway fees on every order, charged by whoever processes the money. Add a realistic ₹18,000 to ₹67,000 a year for the platform on top of the build, depending on which plan you need.
Which Shopify plan do I actually need?
Almost every business starting out needs Basic, and almost every agency will try to move you up. Grow earns its money when you have several staff accounts and enough volume that the lower transaction rate pays for the difference. Advanced is for genuine scale. We will tell you which one you need and we take nothing from Shopify either way — we are not a Shopify partner earning a referral on your plan.
Do you use a bought theme or build it custom?
We start from a solid theme and design on top of it, because starting from nothing on a ₹39,999 build would be dishonest about where the hours go, and because a well-built theme is faster and lighter than most fully custom work. What you get is your business's design, not a demo store with your logo swapped in. If you genuinely need custom theme development we will say so and quote it separately rather than pretend it fits.
How long does a Shopify store take?
The store goes live 48 hours after we have your content and your sign-off on the design. Your product data is usually the slow part — if your catalogue is a mess of spreadsheets and photos in a WhatsApp group, getting that straight takes longer than the build does, and we will tell you that before you pay rather than after.
Do you migrate an existing store?
Yes, from WooCommerce, Wix, Magento or an older Shopify theme, quoted once we have looked at what is actually there. Migrations are the one job where an honest answer sometimes costs us the work: if your current store is fine and the real problem is that nobody is visiting it, rebuilding it will not fix anything and we will say so.
What does it cost after the first year?
₹7,999 a year for support and changes. On a Shopify store that fee is not hosting — Shopify hosts your store and supplies the SSL certificate as part of their plan, so paying us for it would be charging you twice. What it covers is us being on hand: theme updates, changes to pages and products, and fixing things when they break.
Do I own the store?
Yes. The Shopify account is created in your name with your billing, not ours, and you can revoke our staff access whenever you want. Nothing is held in an agency account, so leaving costs you nothing and needs no permission.
Do you do Shopify apps and integrations?
Yes — payments, shipping, marketplaces, WhatsApp, accounting. Worth knowing that apps carry their own monthly fees, paid by you, and that a store carrying fifteen of them is usually slower and more fragile than one carrying four. We will push back on apps you do not need.
Tell us what you sell.
One conversation about your products, your margins and how orders actually reach you, then a fixed number and a date in writing — including which Shopify plan you genuinely need. You are talking to the person who will build it.
